Matra Architects, New Delhi

You can find us in Katwaria Sarai, specifically in Room 102 of the F-152 building. It’s a typical New Delhi setup—a bit compact but we make it work. The area is always busy, so there’s a lot of life right outside our door. Inside the room, it's mostly just us and our equipment. We have a couple of workstations and a lot of books on construction and design tucked into the shelves. Space is at a premium here, so we have to stay organized, though some days the paperwork definitely gets ahead of us. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers or walking to nearby sites to check on how things are progressing. It’s not the kind of place with a fancy lobby or a receptionist; you just come up to the room and find us working. We deal with the usual Delhi things—the heat, the noise, and the constant movement of the city. Most of our day is spent staring at screens or marking up prints with red pens. We don't really do the whole corporate pitch thing. We just focus on getting the lines right on the page so the builders know what to do. It’s a straightforward, no-nonsense kind of office. We like being in this part of the city because everything we need is just a short walk away. It’s just us and our work.
