Ghansi Ram & Sons

Ghansi Ram & Sons is located at 215 Naya Bans. This is an old part of the city and the building really shows it. We’ve been operating out of this same spot for generations now. It’s a family thing, passed down from my grandfather. The street is always packed with laborers and handcarts moving heavy goods. We deal in a bit of everything, mostly wholesale stuff. The shop is deep and dark, filled with crates and old wooden shelves that go way up to the ceiling. We use a tall ladder to get things down when someone asks for something specific. It’s not the kind of place with bright lights or air conditioning. We just have the one big door that stays open all day. The smell of the spices and the old wood is very strong when you walk in. I sit at the front with the big account books. We don't use computers much here, we still prefer doing it by hand. It’s a busy life in Naya Bans. You have to be quick or you’ll get in the way of the traffic. Sometimes we have tea with the other shopkeepers when things quiet down in the late afternoon. We don't do any marketing, people just know 215 is our place. It’s simple, honest work. We aren't trying to expand, just keeping the family name going in the market like it has always been.
