Darya Ganj is always a bit chaotic, and our place at Cbs Plaza on Prahlad Street is right in the middle of it. Cbs Publishers & Distributors Pvt. Ltd. operates out of this building at 4819/Xi. It’s a busy environment with people coming and going all day long. Ansari Road is famous for books, so there’s always a lot of energy around here. We handle a lot of distribution work, which means piles of boxes and packing tape everywhere. The elevators in the building can be slow, so we end up taking the stairs quite a bit. It’s a functional space, not a showroom. We have desks cluttered with catalogs and delivery notes. The noise from the street filters in, but we’re used to the honking and the shouting outside. Our staff is mostly busy checking orders or talking to printers. We drink a lot of coffee to keep going. It’s not the most glamorous work, but it keeps the books moving to where they need to go. Sometimes we have meetings in the small room near the back, though it’s usually full of samples. We try to keep a handle on the inventory, but it’s a big job given how many titles we deal with. Prahlad Street has its own rhythm, and we’ve become part of it over the years. It’s just a standard day-to-day grind in the heart of the book district. We wouldn't know what to do with ourselves in a quiet office.
