This location is the Project Department of Ambuja Cements Limited out in Rabriyawas, which is part of the Jetaran Tehsil in Pali district. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here, and the landscape is pretty rugged and dry. Working at the unit means you’re surrounded by a lot of heavy machinery and the constant hum of the plant in the background. It’s a huge site compared to a simple retail yard, so there’s always a lot of walking involved. We wear our boots and helmets and spend the day checking on the different parts of the project. It’s not the kind of place where you wear a clean shirt for long. The wind blows the dust across the open ground, and you can see it dancing in the sunlight. We have our small office space within the unit where we keep the blueprints and the progress reports. It’s a lot of coordination with the engineers and the site supervisors. We live and work in this environment, so it feels like a small village of its own. Everyone knows each other’s business because we’re all out here together in the middle of the district. The canteen is where we catch up on the news from the outside world. It’s hard work and the days are long, but there’s a certain rhythm to it that you get used to. We just focus on the task at hand and keep things moving as best as we can.
