Gateway Institute

We are located right near the Yuma Nursing Home. It is a fairly quiet area, which is actually good for an institute like this. Most of the people who come here are looking to study or take some extra classes. We have a few rooms set up with chairs and whiteboards. It is not a huge building, just enough space for a few different groups at a time. Sometimes you can hear the ambulances or cars going to the nursing home, but mostly it is just the sound of people talking or writing. We spend a lot of our time organizing the schedules and making sure everyone has what they need for their lessons. The entrance is a bit small, so you have to keep an eye out for it when you are walking down the street. We do not really do much advertising; people just know we are here because we are near the medical center. The floors are made of that old tile that stays cool in the summer heat. We have a small area where students can wait if a class is still going on. Sometimes the markers for the board run dry and we have to scramble to find a new one in the desk drawer. It is a normal day-to-day thing for us. We are not trying to be some massive university, just a local place where someone can learn something new. It feels like a regular neighborhood spot where folks come and go throughout the day.
