Shree Nursery & Primary School

We’ve been here in Thiru Nagar for quite a while now. Chidambaram is a busy place, but our little corner is usually filled with the sounds of kids shouting and playing during their breaks. It's a nursery and primary school, so the children are quite small. Most of them live nearby and walk here with their parents or come on bicycles. The building isn't huge, but we make use of every room we have. On some mornings, you can hear the kids reciting their lessons all the way down the street. We have desks that have seen a lot of use and walls covered in drawings the students made. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so we keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes through from the town. Being in 608001 means we see the same familiar faces every day at the gate. Some of the parents even went to school around here themselves. It’s a simple setup, really. We spend our days teaching basic ABCs and numbers, making sure everyone stays in their seats, and handling the occasional scraped knee. There’s always a bit of dust because of the road outside, but that’s just how it is. We try to keep things organized, though with thirty or forty small children in one area, it’s rarely quiet. It’s just a local school doing what it can for the families in our part of Chidambaram.
