Jayaram Nursery And Primary School is on Kuttai Street in Arasur, Villupuram. It’s a small school that’s been around the area for a bit now. We handle the younger ones, from nursery up to the primary grades. Arasur isn't a very large place, so the school feels like a part of the local life. The building is basic, just a few rooms with tiled floors and painted walls. We have a small area in the front where the children gather. In the mornings, you can hear the kids reciting their lessons from the street. It’s a simple life here. We don’t have all the fancy equipment that city schools have, but we have enough for the kids to learn their basics. The teachers are locals who have been teaching for years. Sometimes it’s a bit hard to keep everything in order, especially when it’s raining and the children are stuck inside. We have some old desks and a few cupboards for the books. The bell is just a piece of metal that we hit with a hammer to let everyone know the time. It’s a very traditional way of doing things. Parents stop by the gate to chat with the staff every now and then. We just try to provide a steady place for the children of Arasur to start their schooling. It isn't much, but we have been doing it for a long time and the kids seem happy.
