Our little school is tucked away at 14, C. Ponnambala Nagar here in Chidambaram. It is a quiet enough street most of the time, except for when the kids arrive in the morning and when they leave in the afternoon. Home2 Nurseary And Primary School has been around for a while, and most of the families in the area know us well. The building isn't huge, but it fits everyone inside. We have the younger ones in the nursery classes and the older ones in the primary sections. It gets quite noisy during recess, which is to be expected with so many children in one spot. You can hear them playing and shouting from down the block. We try to keep things simple here. The classrooms have drawings on the walls and the desks are a bit worn down from years of use. Chidambaram can get quite dusty, so we are always cleaning the floors. The teachers are usually busy helping someone tie their shoes or finish their lunch. It is a very normal, everyday kind of place. We don't have big flashy signs or anything like that. Parents just walk their kids over, say hello, and go about their business. It feels more like a big house than a formal institution sometimes, which I think the children like. We just focus on getting through the lessons and making sure everyone is safe and happy until the bell rings.
