Nehru Nursery & Primary School

Nehru Nursery & Primary School on Quaide Millath Street has been here a long time in Tiruvannamalai. We mostly see the same families year after year. It's a small place, nothing fancy like those big international schools you see in cities. The building has some old paint, but the classrooms are okay for what we need. In the mornings, you can hear the kids singing prayers from the street. It gets a bit noisy when school lets out at 3:30, but that is just how it is around here. We have a few benches outside for parents waiting. Most of the teachers live nearby, so they know the kids' parents from the market or just around town. It’s just a basic school for local kids to learn their alphabets and numbers before they grow up and move to the bigger high schools. Sometimes the fans make a bit of noise in the summer heat, but we keep things running as best as we can. We don't have a huge playground, but the children find space to run around during the lunch break. It is just a regular part of life here on this street. No one is trying to be famous or anything, we just show up and do the work every day. That is really all there is to it. Tiruvannamalai is a busy place, especially with the pilgrims, but our little corner remains pretty much the same year in and year out.
