Uttam Traders

Our business, Uttam Traders, is at 284 Dr Ambedkar Road in Velandipalayam. It’s a straightforward trading shop. We’ve been on this road for a long time and seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. The shop is a regular local spot. We don’t have fancy lighting or a big showroom. It’s just shelves and counter space. We spend a lot of time talking to the people who walk in. Most of them are from around here. We deal with whatever stock we have for the season. It’s not a complicated operation. We open the shutters in the morning and close them when the sun goes down. There’s a few of us working here, usually family or people we’ve known forever. We don’t have a marketing plan or any of that. We just try to be honest with people and give them what they need. Dr Ambedkar Road is a busy stretch, so there’s always something to look at out the front door. We keep the place as tidy as we can, but it gets dusty with all the traffic. It’s a real place for real work. We aren't looking to become a giant company. We just want to keep the shop running well and serve our local customers in Velandipalayam. Sometimes we run out of things, but we always try to restock as soon as we can. That's just the daily routine.
