Udhayam Salon

Udhayam Salon has been sitting here on Ramachandra Road in R S Puram for a good while now. If you know Coimbatore, you know how busy this part of town gets, especially with people going in and out of Kuttiyappa Silks just across from us. There is always a lot of noise from the bikes and cars outside, but once you step inside No 60, it feels a bit more settled. The shop isn't anything fancy to look at, just a regular place with a few chairs and mirrors. We have a routine where we open up the doors early to beat the heat, though the fans usually stay on all day anyway. Most of the people who walk in are locals from the 641002 area or people working in the nearby shops who need a quick haircut before they go home. We don’t do all those complicated styles you see in magazines, mostly just the standard cuts that people around here prefer. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast, so there is a lot of sweeping happening between customers. Sometimes we run out of clean towels if it’s a particularly busy Saturday, but we manage somehow. It’s a decent enough spot to sit for twenty minutes while we work. We don't really do much advertising or anything like that, because people just see the sign when they are walking past or hear about us from their neighbors.
