You can find us at No 32 on Nehru Veedhi in the Uppilipalayam area. This part of Coimbatore is called Varadharajapuram, and it’s where we do our work every day. Sri Ambika Beauty Parlour has been here at this 641015 address for a good while. The street is usually narrow and full of scooters parked everywhere. I come in and open the shop, making sure everything is where it belongs. It’s a local place, so most of the ladies who come in live just a few streets away. We talk about the local news or what’s happening in Varadharajapuram while I work. The shop is simple, with just enough room for a few people to wait. Coimbatore has its own rhythm, and Nehru Veedhi is no different. We get a lot of people walking by on their way to the market. I’ve tried to keep the place tidy, though sometimes the dust from the road gets in. It’s just me and the tools I use. I don’t think making things more complicated than they need to be is a good idea. We just handle the appointments as they come. Sometimes it’s quiet and I just sit and look out at the door, and other times it’s three people all at once.
