Srikumaran Traders

You can find us at No. 9. Kaliyamman Kovil Street in V. Kaliyapuram Post, which is in the Somanathapuram area of Pollachi. Srikumaran Traders is a small setup where we handle various local goods. Pollachi is known for its coconuts and its markets, and we are right in the thick of that rural atmosphere. Our street is usually quiet until a tractor or a truck rolls by with a load. We spend our time weighing items and keeping track of who owes what. It’s not a high-tech business at all. We have an old calculator and some big ledgers that we use for everything. The shop is a bit dusty because of the dry air and the goods we move around. We sit on the bench outside and talk to the farmers when they stop by. It’s more about the community here than anything else. We know everyone’s name and whose kids are doing what. Sometimes business is slow, especially when the harvest is late, but we don’t worry too much. We just keep the doors open and wait for the next load to come in. The Kaliyamman temple is nearby so we hear the bells and the prayers during the festivals. It is a simple way of life and we have been doing it this way for a long time now. We aren't looking to change much, just keeping the trading going as usual.
