Maris Mens Parlour

You can find Maris Mens Parlour at Shop No 48 E on R G Street, right near the Poomarket Road in RS Puram. Being so close to the Flower Market means the air around here often smells like roses and jasmine, especially early in the morning when the trucks are unloading their goods. Our shop is a mens' parlour, and it’s a pretty basic setup for the neighborhood guys. We’ve got the standard barber chairs and a few benches for people to wait on if we are busy. RS Puram is a busy part of Coimbatore, so there’s always something happening outside the window. We get a lot of workers from the market and also people who live in the nearby streets. The shop isn't very big, so things are packed in pretty tight. We have a small TV that usually stays on some news channel, but mostly people just chat with each other while they wait for their turn. The tiles on the floor are a bit worn down from all the walking over the years. We start our day by cleaning the mirrors and getting the tools ready for the first customer. It gets quite humid here, so we keep the fans on high speed all day long. We don't try to be something we aren't; it’s just a place to get a decent haircut and maybe a shave after a long day of work. It’s a practical spot for the local guys to gather.
