Feelings Beauty Parlor

We’ve been here at No 54 for quite a while now, though the sign still says Old No 198 because that’s how people in R S Puram remember it. We are right on East Sambandham Road, and being opposite Adyar Anandha Bhavan is actually pretty great because the smell of fresh sweets often drifts over. It’s a regular beauty parlor, nothing like those fancy places you see in malls. My sister and I started it with just two chairs and a mirror we bought second-hand. It’s not always perfect; the ceiling fan in the corner makes a bit of a clicking sound when it’s on high, but it keeps the Coimbatore heat away. We do mostly threading, waxing, and the usual haircuts. We don’t have those expensive imported creams, just the stuff that works. Our regulars are mostly ladies from the nearby houses who stop by after their morning market run. We talk about the neighborhood and what’s happening on the street. Sometimes we get a bit backed up on Saturdays, and people have to wait on the plastic chairs by the door. We don't have a computer for bookings, just a big paper diary where we scribble names down. It’s a bit messy but we know where everything is. If you’re looking for a place that feels like a home and where you can just be yourself, that’s us. We just keep doing what we do every day.
