Blue Diamond Saloon (Saloons & Beauty Parlours)

Our shop, Blue Diamond Saloon, is right across from the Mahakaliamman Temple on Mahakaliamman Road. It’s a handy spot because people often stop in after they finish at the temple or while they are out shopping in R S Puram. We’ve been at number 17 for a good long time. It’s a busy street, so there is always something going on outside the window. We do both men’s and women’s stuff, though it depends on who is working that day. The shop isn't anything too stylish, just the basic mirrors and chairs you'd expect. We like the neighborhood. People around here are friendly and we have a lot of regulars who have been coming to us for years. I remember when some of the kids first came in for their first haircut, and now they are grown up. Time flies in a place like this. We don’t do appointments much, usually people just walk in and wait their turn on the bench. We try to keep things simple. If the power goes out, we just open the door for light and keep going. Coimbatore heat can be something else, so we keep the water cold. It’s a small operation, really. Just a few of us making sure people get their hair cut or whatever else they need. We aren't part of some big chain, just a local business trying to do okay for ourselves and our families. It’s just how things are here.
