Lingadahalli Farmer Producer Company Limited is located on Temple Road in Mallenahalli. We are out in the Tarikere area of Chickmagalur. Most people know this district for the hills and the coffee, but we have all sorts of farming going on here. We are a group of farmers who live around here and we set up this company to help ourselves out. It is tough being a small farmer when you have to buy everything and sell everything on your own. We use the office as a meeting point to talk about what we are planting this year. The building is simple and sits right on the road. We don't have any corporate polish or big signs. It is just a place where Puttarangegowda’s son or the other local men come to settle accounts. We worry about the monsoon rains and the price of diesel just like everyone else. We aren't looking to become some huge international business. We just want to make sure the people in Lingadahalli and Mallenahalli can keep their farms going without going into debt. It is a quiet life and the work is physical. We spend our time in the fields and only come to the office when there is paperwork to finish or a truck to load. It is just the way things are done in the countryside here in Karnataka.
