Janasiri Farmers Producer Company Limited

Out here in Kalkere, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. Janasiri Farmers Producer Company Limited is based in the Chowlahiriyuru area of Kadur Taluk. It’s mostly just us farmers trying to find a better way to get our produce out there without getting lost in the shuffle. The road can get a bit rough during the monsoon season, but we manage to keep things going. We spend our days looking at the crops and talking to the local families about what they are growing this year. The office is just a place to keep the papers and have a cup of coffee while we wait for the trucks to come by. We don't have any big slogans or anything like that. We just know the land and what it needs to produce well. Sometimes the market prices are frustrating, so we get together to see how we can help each other out. It is a lot of talk about water levels and which seeds are doing okay in this weather. Everyone knows everyone around here, which makes things easier in some ways and harder in others. We just do our bit and hope for a decent harvest at the end of it. The building isn't much to look at, but it serves its purpose for the group. We are usually out in the fields anyway, so the office stays quiet.
