We spend a good chunk of our day just moving materials in and out of the workspace. It’s a bit cramped sometimes but we make it work. Wood is what we know. There’s always that specific smell of cut timber and polish hanging in the air here. It gets on your clothes and follows you home, but you get used to it after a week. We handle a lot of different projects, mostly residential stuff for people moving into new flats nearby. We aren't a giant corporation with hundreds of employees. It’s just a small group of us who know how to handle a saw and a drill. Sometimes we stay late when a deadline is coming up, drinking tea from the stall down the road to stay awake. It's hard work, especially in the Chennai heat when the fans are just blowing warm air around the workshop. We don't have a receptionist or a big lobby. Usually, if you come by, you’ll just find someone covered in dust who can talk to you about your cupboards or doors. We just try to do the work right so we don't have to go back and fix it later. It’s straightforward, really. That's just how we run things day in and day out.
