I’ve been working at De Designs & Interiors Pvt Ltd for a while now. We’re tucked away on 3rd Street in Abhiramapuram, right at No 45. It used to be old number 21/2, which sometimes confuses the delivery guys, but they eventually figure it out. Alwarpet is a busy part of the city, but our street stays relatively quiet most days. The office isn't anything fancy or like those glass towers you see in the movies. It’s just a place where we sit down with blueprints and try to figure out where a kitchen cabinet should go or how to fit a wardrobe into a tiny corner. Sometimes we spend the whole morning just arguing over a shade of beige that looks different under the office lights than it does outside. It gets a bit dusty with all the samples lying around. There’s always someone coming in to ask about a renovation, and half the time we’re just chatting about the local traffic or the weather before we even look at a drawing. It’s a small team here. We don't have a big corporate hierarchy. If the tap is leaking, one of us usually fixes it ourselves. That’s just how things are on this side of town. We just focus on the work in front of us, making sure the measurements are right and the client doesn’t end up with a door that hits the bed.
