Vidyodaya Girls Higher Secondary School

Our place is at the start of Thirumalai Pillai Road, very close to Valluvar Kottam. It's a well-known spot in T Nagar. The school has been here for ages, and you can see it in the walls and the old trees. It’s a girls' school, so it’s always got a certain energy. The gates stay shut most of the day for safety. T Nagar traffic is a nightmare, so we always tell parents to leave early. Inside, it’s a bit quieter than the street outside. We have the higher secondary students who are always stressed about exams. The younger girls are just happy to be on break. The buildings are old-fashioned, high ceilings and big windows. We don't have much in the way of modern glass and steel. It’s just bricks and paint that’s been touched up many times. The teachers here have been around for twenty or thirty years in some cases. They know everyone. We just keep doing what we've always done. It’s about getting through the syllabus and making sure everyone is where they should be. It’s a familiar landmark for anyone who lives around this part of Chennai. You can hear the prayers in the morning and the chatter during lunch. It’s been that way for a long time and doesn't change much. We just focus on the daily classes and the usual routines that keep us going.
