It is a big, old building that has seen a lot of history. Inside, it feels a bit quieter than the busy street outside. We spend our time managing the various technical and craft items that come through here. Many people stop in just because they are walking past on Anna Salai and get curious. We have many regulars who have been visiting us for decades. The staff knows where everything is kept, even if it looks a bit cluttered to an outsider. We don't have a modern, sleek office vibe. It’s more about the tradition of the institute and the work that happens within these walls. Sometimes the fans overhead are the only thing you hear besides the distant honking of cars. We keep track of everything manually quite often because that’s how we have always done it. It is a big responsibility to stay at this location and keep things going. We don’t really advertise much. The name Victoria Technical Institute usually speaks for itself to the locals. We just focus on being present and keeping the doors open for whoever needs to come in.
