Leather Links Chennai is located right in the heart of the leather district in Periamet. We’re at No. 38 Uppukattan 3rd Street, which is just off Vepery High Road. If you’ve ever been to Periamet, you know how tight the streets are and how much activity is going on at every hour. Our building is one of those older ones that has seen a lot of history. The stairs are narrow and the rooms are filled with the scent of hides. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just some ceiling fans that work overtime during the summer months. It’s a busy place. We spend our time sorting through piles of leather that come in from all over. There’s no marketing department here, just us answering the phone and moving stock around. The noise from Vepery High Road is always there in the background, a mix of horns and people talking. We don't have a grand entrance or a lobby. You just walk in and you’re right in the middle of all the leather. Sometimes it feels a bit overwhelming with how much we have packed into the space, but we know where everything is. We’ve been part of the Periamet community for a long time and we know most of the other shopkeepers on the street. It’s a lot of hard work and long days, but it’s what we know how to do.
