S. R. M. Leather Products

Our shop is over at No. 15 on Kumarappa Street, right in the heart of Periamet. If you know this area, you know it smells like leather and rain most of the time. We’ve been here at S. R. M. Leather Products for quite a while now. The building is old and the stairs creak, but it works for what we do. We spend most of our days sitting on low stools, sorting through piles of hides. Some are thick, some are thin, and they all have their own quirks. My hands are usually stained dark by the end of the day. It’s not a clean job, but it’s what we know. The street outside is always crowded with carts and people shouting, so it’s never quiet here. We don't have a big front office or a receptionist. If you walk in, you’ll just see us working amidst the scraps. Sometimes the fans don't work and we just have to sweat it out. We don't put much stock in fancy things. We just look at the leather, cut it where it needs cutting, and get the bundles ready. It’s a lot of repetitive movement, but there’s a rhythm to it. People around here know us as the guys who just stay busy in the back. We don't do much talking unless it’s about the work at hand. It's just a regular local business trying to get through the week's orders.
