I. S. Leathers

You can find I. S. Leathers over at No. 87/ 45 on E. V. K. Sampath Road in Vepery. It’s an older part of the city, and the buildings around here have a lot of character, even if some of them need a fresh coat of paint. We work with all kinds of leather goods in this shop. The space is often a bit cramped because we have so much stock piled up against the walls. You really have to be careful where you walk so you don't trip over a heavy roll of hide. We spend most of our working hours measuring and cutting the leather. The tools we use are quite old but they still work perfectly fine for us. E. V. K. Sampath Road is usually very busy with traffic, so there’s a constant hum of bus engines and horns right outside our door. We’ve been here in Vepery for a few years and have really gotten to know the daily rhythms of the street. The rain sometimes leaks a little bit near the back window when it’s heavy, but we just move the leather out of the way. It’s definitely not a corporate office; it’s just a regular workspace where things get made by hand. We usually eat our lunch at the main cutting table when it’s clear of scraps. It’s a bit of a messy place, with pieces of brown and black leather everywhere. We don’t have a website or anything like that. If people want something, they just stop by.
