Venkat Building Materials

We are located at 20/21 on New Street in Avvai Colony. It’s a part of Kotturpuram that still feels like a neighborhood. Venkat Building Materials has been here for years, and we know most of the people walking by. Our shop is where we keep all the supplies people need for their homes. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to stock as much as possible. There’s always sand or some gravel on the floor no matter how much we sweep. We don't mind it much. My brother and I run the place usually. We spend our mornings checking what came in and what needs to go out. The street can be a bit narrow, so when the big lorries come, everything stops for a minute while they maneuver. It’s just the way it is on New Street. We don't use any fancy software for our accounts, just the old-fashioned books. It works for us. People come in to ask for advice on what cement to use or how many bricks they might need for a wall. We tell them what we know based on what we’ve seen over the years. It’s not a corporate office with air conditioning and fancy lights. It’s just a local shop in Avvai Colony. We like being here and being part of the community in Kotturpuram. We don't have big ambitions to expand, we just like doing what we do. If someone needs something for a repair, we're here to help them out.
