Alpine Skins

Alpine Skins is located at S. No. 522/1b, specifically in Shed No. 3 in the Kathivadi area of Melvisharam. If you know the Vellore district, you know Melvisharam is a major hub for skins and hides. Our workshop is basically a large shed, which is exactly what we need for handling raw materials. It is a very practical environment. There is a lot of space for stacking and sorting, and the floors are made of hard concrete to handle the heavy work. It is not the kind of place you would visit for a fancy tour. It is where the actual labor happens. The smell of the tanning process is part of the daily life here. We start work early in the morning before the sun gets too hot, as these sheds can hold a lot of heat by midday. We spend hours checking the texture and quality of the skins. It is a messy job sometimes, but we have been doing it long enough that we do not mind. Our location in Kathivadi is surrounded by similar businesses, so there is always a truck moving in or out with goods. We keep to our own schedule and make sure the sheds are organized as much as possible. It is a basic setup that works for the type of trade we are in. We just focus on the skins and getting them ready for the next stage. It is hard work, but it is what we know.
