Arun Apparels is based at 4/5a 4th Main Road in Dhandeeswaram Nagar, Velachery. If you know the Velachery area at all, you know it’s gotten much busier and more crowded over the years. We are tucked into a street that looks mostly residential, so it doesn't feel like a big industrial factory. It’s more of a local setup where we handle garment production and finishing. We have a small team working here. The front part of the building is where we keep some of our samples and the small desk where we handle all the paperwork. Further back is where the actual sewing and stitching happens. It’s a bit cramped because we try to fit a lot of equipment into the space we have available. There’s always the sound of steam irons and sewing machines going throughout the day. We don't really have a big sign out front, just a small one so people know they found the right place. Most of our work is for local labels or small shops that need a reliable place to get their clothes made. We aren't a corporate office with people in suits. We are usually in our work clothes, dealing with thread colors and checking for any fabric defects. Sometimes the rain here in Chennai makes things a bit difficult with the street outside, but we keep the shop dry and the work moving. It's a straightforward operation and we just make clothes for our customers.
