Varahi Traders

Our place is situated at No 5/3 in Kasthuriba Nagar, right on the 1st Main Road in Adyar. It’s a decent neighborhood to be in, and we’ve seen a lot of changes on this street over the years. The shop itself is pretty straightforward. We deal in various goods and materials that people in Adyar might need for their homes or small projects. There’s always a bit of a breeze coming through the door, which is nice during the hotter months. We don't have any flashy signs or bright lights. Most of our day is spent checking inventory and talking to the delivery guys who bring in the new stock. Sometimes the traffic on the main road gets backed up and the noise carries inside, but we’re used to it by now. We usually keep some water in a clay pot for anyone who’s thirsty. It’s a small operation, really. Just a few of us handling the accounts and making sure the items are placed where they belong. We try to keep things tidy, though with so many boxes coming and going, there’s usually some cardboard lying around. People stop by on their way home from work or while running errands on the weekend. We don't do much in the way of talking ourselves up; we just open the shop, do the work, and close up when it's time to go home to our families. It can get tiring by the evening, but that is part of the job.
