Linshe Imports & Exports is located on the second floor at 35-a Duraiswamy Road in Vadapalani. Being on the second floor means we get a bit of exercise every day because there isn't an elevator in this building. It’s a busy road, especially with the temple and the malls nearby, so there is always something happening outside. Our office space is quite small and can get a bit stuffy in the summer, but we have a couple of fans that keep things moving. We spend a lot of time looking at screens and filing papers. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else’s business because we are all in one main room. We handle imports and exports for various goods, which means we are always dealing with some kind of regulation or shipping schedule. Sometimes the noise from the street below makes it hard to hear on the phone, so we have to close the windows even when it’s hot. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or corporate values posted on the walls. We just have a calendar with a lot of circles on it and a shelf full of old files. It’s a real, working office where we deal with the actual problems of international trade. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't; we are just a local business making our way in Vadapalani.
