Urbagrow Aquaponics

Out here on the OMR Service Road, things move pretty fast with all the tech offices around, but inside our place at Kandancavadi, it’s a bit different. We are near Brigade Vantage, tucked away in Santhosh Nagar. We spend our time looking after fish and plants. It’s an aquaponics setup, so there are pipes and tanks everywhere. We have to check the water levels and the pumps every few hours to make sure everything is flowing right. It’s a bit of a damp environment, so you get used to the smell of water and wet earth. The plants grow in these long troughs, and it’s actually pretty quiet inside compared to the traffic on OMR. We have a small team here at number 89. We spend a lot of time cleaning filters and making sure the fish are fed. It’s not like a normal office job at all. Sometimes a pipe leaks and we have to scramble to fix it before the floor gets flooded. We don’t have much in the way of fancy furniture, just some stools and a workbench where we keep our testers. It’s a lot of trial and error to keep the balance right between the fish and the greens. We just like seeing things grow. Most people walking by on the service road probably don't even know what's going on inside here. It’s just our daily routine of checking tanks and harvesting what's ready for the week.
