The School is located in Damodar Gardens, which is a very green patch of Adyar. If you walk down Besant Avenue, you’ll find us. It’s a bit different here because we have so many trees and it feels more like a park than a typical school. We don't have big concrete walls everywhere. Instead, there’s a lot of open air. The kids spend a lot of time outside, not just for play but sometimes for classes too. It’s a quiet place, away from the worst of the city noise. We don't go for the usual school stuff like uniforms or rigid hierarchies. It’s more relaxed. You’ll see teachers and students sitting together under a neem tree talking about things. The buildings are simple and sort of blend into the gardens. We try to keep the atmosphere calm. It’s not about rushing through a syllabus just to finish it. We like to let things take their own time. The squirrels and birds are as much a part of the campus as we are. Sometimes it feels a bit unorganized to an outsider, but there is a method to it. We just want a space where people can think and be themselves without a lot of pressure. It’s a slow-paced kind of place in a fast city.
