Tejpal Agarwal

Down in Old Washermanpet, at 5 Shanmugarayan Street, is where Tejpal Agarwal is located. It’s an old part of town with a lot of history and very narrow streets. Our place is tucked in among a lot of other small businesses. We’ve been around this area for quite some time now. Most of the day is spent handling orders and talking to people who come by. It’s not a corporate environment at all. We have stuff stacked up against the walls and the ceiling is high, which helps in the heat. It’s a lot of foot traffic outside, and you can always hear the sounds of the neighborhood coming through the doors. We deal in various goods, mostly things people around here need for their own work. We don't have a fancy website or a big sign. Most people find us because they’ve been told where we are. It’s a simple way of doing business. We have our routines, like the mid-day break when things slow down for a bit. Then it picks up again until we close. The floors are worn down from years of walking back and forth. We don't change much because the way we do things seems to work just fine for us and the people we deal with. It’s just us doing our part in the market. We take things as they come and try not to get too stressed when it’s busy.
