Ameen Garments Company is located at No. 49/62 Burkit Road, right in the heart of T Nagar. If you know T Nagar, you know it is one of the busiest places you could ever be. There are people everywhere, and the noise from the street never stops. Our place is full of rolls of fabric and the constant clicking of sewing machines. It’s a bit cramped because we have so much stock, and sometimes you have to squeeze past a pile of shirts just to get to the back. We don't have a big marketing team or a fancy logo. It’s just us working with the cloth and making sure everything is stitched together right. The light in the shop isn't great, so we have to use extra lamps over the workstations. Sometimes the thread tangles or a machine breaks down, and we have to spend an hour fixing it ourselves. We take our lunches together on the small bench outside when the weather allows. Burkit Road is always full of surprises, with vendors and cars constantly moving. We’ve been here for a long time, and we know most of the people on our block. It’s a lot of repetition, but there is something okay about the rhythm of the work. We just keep our heads down and keep the needles moving every day until evening.
