T J Santhanam & Sons is a family-run business located at 267, Gst Road in Chrompet. Being right on the GST Road means we are always surrounded by the sound of buses and cars zooming past toward Tambaram. It’s a very busy spot, and we’ve been here for quite a long time. My father started things off, and now we’re the ones keeping it going. The shop has a lot of history in its walls, and you can see it in the old wooden drawers and the way the floor is worn down in front of the counter. We deal with a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us for decades. They remember when the road was much narrower than it is today. We don't go in for any of that modern corporate talk. We just focus on our customers and make sure we’re giving them a fair deal on whatever they’re buying. It gets pretty frantic during the festival seasons, and we usually have all the family members helping out behind the counter then. The rest of the year is just a steady flow of people stopping in. We try to keep the place looking decent, but with the GST Road traffic, there’s always a bit of soot to clean up. We’re proud to be a part of the Chrompet community and hope to stay here for a lot longer.
