You can find Sumathi Traders at 128, Anna Pillai Street in Sowcarpet. If you’ve ever been to Sowcarpet, you know how tight the streets are. It’s a very busy part of town. Every morning we have to navigate through the crowds just to get the doors open. There are people everywhere and carts moving up and down the lane. Our space at 128 is not huge, but we make use of every inch of it. We have things stacked up pretty high to fit everything in. It can get a bit dusty because of all the activity outside on Anna Pillai Street. We spend a lot of our time talking to people who walk in and out. It’s a lot of manual work, moving bags and boxes around. Sometimes the heat in the afternoon is quite a lot, so we just keep the small fan running. We don’t really have a fancy office or anything. It’s just a counter and the stock. We’ve been here long enough that we know the neighbors and the other shopkeepers around us. Everyone is just trying to get through their day. We keep an eye on the inventory and try to make sure we don't run out of the things people usually ask for. It’s a noisy place to work, but you get used to the sound of the horns and the shouting outside. That’s just how life is here in Sowcarpet.
