Subha Engineering Works

Our shop is tucked away on Kamaraj Street, right near Gopalanaicker Nagar Street in Padi. If you know the neighborhood, you know it's a busy spot with lots of small businesses. We’ve been at No. 5/1 for quite some time now. It’s a basic setup. We have our machines lined up and enough space to move around, though it gets tight when we have a big order in. Most of the guys here have been working together for years. We mostly do manual work, turning parts and welding things that need fixing. It’s sweaty work, especially in the afternoons. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside on the stoop for a bit until it comes back. That’s just part of being in Padi. We don't spend much time on paperwork or computer stuff. We’d rather be at the bench. When someone brings in a drawing or a broken part, we take a look and see what can be done. It's pretty straightforward. No one wears a tie here. We just wear our old clothes that can get dirty. If you need to find Subha Engineering Works, just look for the gate on the corner. We are usually there from early morning until the sun goes down. It's a living, and we've got plenty of work to keep us out of trouble. There is always a lot of tea drinking between the jobs.
