K.C. Surendran

I keep my office here on the first floor on East Madha Church Street. It’s an old building, number 104-B, and you have to walk up the stairs to find me. The street can be quite loud with the church nearby and the people walking by all day, but inside it’s mostly just me and the paperwork. I’ve been at this desk for a long time now. The furniture isn't new, and the floorboards might creak a bit when you walk in. I try to keep things in order, but the files have a way of piling up on the corners of the table. Usually, I start early in the morning before the sun gets too strong. There’s a window that looks out toward the street, so I can see what’s going on outside when I need a break from reading. It is a quiet existence for the most part. People come by when they need something handled, and we sit and talk for a bit. I don’t use any fancy computer systems for everything; I still like writing things down in my ledgers. It feels more real that way. Sometimes the rain makes a lot of noise on the roof, and I just stop and wait for it to pass. It is just a regular office where work gets done without much drama or excitement. K.C. Surendran is just the name on the door, but it is the daily work that keeps this place going.
