Standard Engineering Company

If you ever find yourself on Bakers Street in Choolai, you might have passed by our place. Standard Engineering Company is located at No. 10, though the older signs around here might still say No. 60. It’s an old part of the city, and our building has a lot of history to it. We’ve been working out of this spot for a long time, focusing on different engineering tasks and mechanical parts. The shop floor is usually loud with the sound of machines running, and there’s always that smell of oil and metal in the air. It’s not a quiet office job, that’s for sure. Our team is mostly made up of guys who have been doing this for decades. They know the machines inside and out. We take on a lot of custom work that comes in from other businesses around Chennai. Sometimes someone brings in a broken part that they can't find a replacement for, and we see what we can do to fix it or make a new one. It’s practical work. We don't have a big reception area or a coffee machine for guests. People usually just walk back to the workshop area to talk to us. We keep things pretty straightforward. The street outside can get quite crowded with traffic, but inside we just focus on the drawings and the metalwork. It’s what we know how to do, and we keep at it every single day.
