Sangeeth Learther Garments

Sangeeth Learther Garments is over at 31 2nd Cross Street in V G P Murphy Square. This part of St. Thomas Mount is usually quiet compared to the main roads. We have been working with leather here for a long time. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the smell of the hides. It is a strong smell but we like it. We spend our days cutting the leather and sewing it into different garments. It takes a lot of patience because leather is tough to work with. The shop has big heavy tables and some old sewing machines that still work great. We have shelves full of different skins and rolls of lining material. Our windows look out onto the street and we see the neighbors walking their dogs or going to the market. It is a nice little neighborhood to be in. The work keeps us busy from morning until evening. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a specific piece. We don't have a showroom or anything fancy like that. It is just a workshop where the actual work happens. Most of our tools are quite old but they get the job done right. It is a bit dusty inside from the leather shavings but that is just part of the job. We enjoy being tucked away in Murphy Square where it is peaceful.
