Sri Viswajothi Brick Works

You can find us at 40, Perumal Agraharam in Thiruverkadu. We are quite close to the Amman Koil, so on festival days, the whole area gets very crowded with people and music. Our brick works has been part of this neighborhood for a while. We aren't a massive factory, just a local spot where we make bricks the old-fashioned way. There’s a lot of manual labor involved, from carrying the raw bricks to the kiln to stacking the finished ones. My clothes are always covered in dust by the time I head home. We have a small crew of people from the Thiruverkadu area who have been working with us for years. We know their families and they know ours. It’s more like a small community than a corporate business. When people come to buy bricks, they usually know exactly what they need for their walls or extensions. We don't use any fancy talk; we just show them the stock and help them load up. The ground at Perumal Agraharam is usually uneven and full of brick fragments. It’s a bit of a rough place, but it’s home for us. We spend the days managing the heat of the kiln and making sure the quality is okay. It’s simple, steady work that keeps us connected to the local town and the people building their lives here. Even when it rains, we try to keep the stacks covered with old tarps.
