Jsl Fly Ash Brick Works

Our place is located at No. 11, Naman, right on Pattur Road in Thirumalisai. If you are driving around this part of town, you will probably see the grey stacks from the road. Jsl Fly Ash Brick Works is not a very big operation, but we keep the machines running pretty steadily throughout the week. Making bricks from fly ash is a bit different than the old red clay style, and it takes a different kind of rhythm to get it right. The yard can get a bit noisy when the pressing machines are going, and there is always a layer of grey dust on everything, but that is just part of the job. We spend a lot of time checking the blocks as they come off the line to make sure they are holding their shape properly. Being on Pattur Road means we see a lot of traffic passing by, and sometimes people just pull in to ask about what we are making. It is just a handful of us working here, handling the loading and keeping track of the inventory. We don't use any high-tech systems, just some notebooks and a lot of manual labor to keep things organized. The weather in Thirumalisai can be really humid, which makes the work sweatier, but we just get on with it. It’s a straightforward life here at the works, just making blocks and sending them out on the back of lorries to wherever they are needed next.
