Sri Kamakshi Traders

You can find us at the H R Complex on Poonamallee High Road in Arumbakkam. The address is a bit funny because it has an old number, 482, and a new one, 939. We’ve been here so long that some people still use the old one. We are right near the Arumbakkam Post Office, which is the easiest landmark to give people. Sri Kamakshi Traders is just a small unit in a big, busy complex. It gets really crowded during the day with all the traffic on the high road. Inside, we have bags and boxes stacked up to the ceiling. There isn’t much room to move around, but we’ve got a system that works for us. We don’t have any polished sales pitches or anything like that. We just show people what we have and tell them the price. The lights inside are a bit dim, but we can see well enough to get the work done. We drink a lot of water because it gets very humid in Chennai. Most of our day is spent talking to people who walk in and keeping track of what’s coming in and out. It’s a busy life, and the noise from the street never really stops. We’ve become a part of the neighborhood over the years and we like it that way. We just keep our heads down and work.
