Sri Balaji Aluminium & Glass Interior

Our shop, Sri Balaji Aluminium & Glass Interior, is tucked away at number 125 in Venkateshwara Nagar. Being right on Mettukuppam Main Road in Maduravoyal means there is never a quiet moment. There is always someone honking or a truck passing by. Inside the shop, it’s mostly the sound of the saw cutting through aluminium frames or the clinking of glass sheets being moved around. We have a lot of off-cuts piled in the corners that we need to clear out every few days. It gets pretty dusty with all the metal shavings, so we spend a good amount of time just sweeping the floor. It’s a practical space, not a designer studio. We have glass samples leaning against the walls and stacks of handles and hinges in plastic bins. People from the neighborhood drop by asking for small repairs or wanting to put up a partition in their shop. We spend most of our time measuring things out and hoping the glass doesn’t crack during transport. It's a bit of a gamble sometimes with the roads being as bumpy as they are around here. We usually have a few guys working in the back, and we try to keep things organized, but when we have three big orders at once, the place gets crowded fast. It’s just a regular local business trying to get the jobs done before the sun goes down and we can finally lock up.
