Sunlight Fibre Glass Industries

If you walk down Sydenhams Road near Moore Market, you’ll find us at number 178. Sunlight Fibre Glass Industries has been in Choolai for a long time. The area is always crowded and the noise from the market next door never really stops. We work with fiber glass, which means everything in the shop has a thin layer of white dust on it. It’s itchy stuff if you aren't careful with your sleeves. We make all sorts of things, from small parts to big tanks. The resin we use has a very strong smell that you stop noticing after the first twenty minutes, but visitors always comment on it. Our floor is stained with spills from over the years that won't ever come out. We have a few old fans spinning to keep the air moving, but it’s still a warm place to work. We don't have a receptionist or a lobby. If you come in, you’ll probably find one of us covered in grit holding a grinder. Choolai is a busy hub, and being near the market means there is always something happening outside the door. We spend our mornings cutting sheets and our afternoons laminating. It’s messy, hands-on work that leaves your fingers feeling a bit rough. We just keep at it, finishing one job and moving to the next pile of material waiting in the corner. The radio plays in the background but you can barely hear it over the machines.
