Philips Glass Works

Philips Glass Works is located at No. 334 T. H. Road, right in the heart of Old Washermanpet. It’s an old building, and we’ve been here long enough that everyone knows where we are. The street is always packed with people and rickshaws. Working with glass in such a busy area can be tricky, especially when we’re unloading the big sheets from the trucks. We have to time it just right so we don't block the whole road. Inside, it’s a bit of a mess of glass shards and old crates. We specialize in general glass work. If a window breaks in one of the old houses nearby, they usually call us. I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager, learning from the older guys who used to work here. It’s not a clean job. You get glass dust in your clothes and your hair. We don't have a big marketing team or anything. Most of our work comes from people walking by or neighbors telling their friends about us. We try to keep our prices fair because we know the people around here. The shop gets really dark in the evenings, so we have these old fluorescent lights that flicker a bit. It’s just how the place is. We aren't looking to change much. We just keep the doors open and do the work. It is what we know and what we have always done for the community.
