About Float Glass Centre – Building & Construction Material in Chennai
Located over on Devarajan Street at number 23, we have been handling glass for a long time. It is a narrow enough street so things can get a bit cramped when the delivery trucks show up in the morning. We spend a lot of time just cutting pieces to size and making sure nothing breaks before it gets to where it is going. Glass is a tricky thing to move around all day. You have to be careful with your hands and always watch your feet. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, just a regular place with stacks of sheets leaned up against the walls. We have different thicknesses and types depending on what people are looking for. Most of the neighbors know us because we’ve been here in the same spot for years. If you need a replacement pane or just a small piece for a frame, we usually have something that fits. Sometimes the power goes out or the traffic on the street gets backed up, which slows things down, but we just keep at it. It’s mostly just us and the glass, day in and day out. We don’t spend much time on the computer or doing fancy paperwork. We just write things down in the ledger and get back to the cutting table. It's how we have always done things here on Devarajan Street. There is usually a bit of sawdust and glass shavings on the floor, but we sweep up before heading home.
