Vishnu Glass And Plywoods is located at No. 63 on the Medavakkam Main Road in Keelkattalai. It’s a pretty busy spot with a lot of traffic passing by all day long. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the smell of cut wood and the sound of glass being handled carefully. We have large sheets of plywood stacked up against the walls and glass panes kept in special racks so they don't break. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes when we have a lot of stock delivered. We do a lot of cutting to size right here, so there are usually wood shavings on the floor. It’s a practical shop, not a showroom. We talk to carpenters and homeowners who are fixing up their places. Sometimes the glass gets smudged, so we are always carrying around cleaning rags. We don't have a lot of staff, just a couple of guys who know how to handle the heavy materials without accidents. We’ve been in Keelkattalai for a bit and we like the local vibe. People know they can just come in and ask for a specific piece and we will see if we can cut it for them. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting and measuring, but we are used to it by now. We just take things one order at a time and try to stay organized in the middle of all the glass and wood.
