Sri Abi Leather Garments

We are Sri Abi Leather Garments, based over at No. 108/11 in Ganapathi Nagar. If you know the Ekkatuthankal area, you know it can be a busy place with a lot of different trades going on. Our workshop is where we spend most of our time dealing with leather. It’s a different kind of work because of the material. Leather has a specific smell and feel, and our place always smells like it. We have the usual tools and heavy-duty machines needed for this kind of thing. It’s not the quietest job, but it’s what we do. The space in Ganapathi Nagar is practical. We’ve got benches for cutting and areas where we store the skins before they get worked on. People who work here have been doing this for a long time, so they know how to handle the leather without wasting it. We don't really have a big showroom or anything. Most of our work is done on the tables in the back. During the rainy season, the streets around Ekkatuthankal can get a bit messy, but we just keep the doors shut and keep working. It’s a local business through and through. We don’t use any complicated systems, just old-fashioned hard work and paying attention to what’s in front of us. It’s a steady life here, and we like the community in this part of town.
