Spazio Leather Fashion is up on the first floor of the building on Chamiers Road. We are right across from where the Park Sheration outgate used to be, so it's a pretty well-known spot in R. A. Puram. Being upstairs means we don't get the dust from the street as much, but carrying the heavy leather hides up the stairs is a bit of a workout. You can smell the leather the moment you walk in the door. It’s a strong scent, but we like it. We do a lot of cutting and finishing here. It’s a bit different from the big garment factories because leather takes more patience. If you mess up a cut, you can't really fix it. We have a few workbenches spread out and some specialized sewing machines that can handle the thick material. The space is a little tight with all the scraps and tools lying around. We spend a lot of time looking at textures and picking out the right skins for different pieces. It’s mostly just us working away while the traffic crawls along Chamiers Road outside. We’ve been in this R A Puram neighborhood for a while now and most of the local shops know us. It’s a steady job and we take our time to make sure the zippers and linings are put in correctly.
